“I have no simple answers. But perhaps our willingness to listen and say all that we know, and feel--all that we dare--perhaps that will help us build something better than we can even, non, imagine.”

My Approach & Philosophy

Who am I when I’m free from the expectations of others? That was a question that I had to answer for myself on my journey back to myself. Growing up as the eldest and only daughter in a Black household, I often felt pressure in many areas of my life. For example, I spent much of my schooling in predominantly white spaces, I moved around a lot and I was raised in a strict religion. I was no stranger to being different, sticking out and feeling alone in my experiences; I figured if I did what I was told, kept my head down, and kept others happy, I would survive.

It wasn’t until I moved away to college and began trying to create a life of my own that I realized I no longer was in touch with myself. I People pleasing, perfectionism and living for others had become apart of my identity, and it was weighing on my mental health. I was tired of settling for survival. I wanted and needed to live as my authentic self–and that was where my journey began all over again. Through therapy, identity work and by utilizing social justice and liberation lenses, I began to see myself more clearly than ever and to feel more free than ever.

Maybe you’ve found yourself here. Through expectations placed on you, transitions, being othered, and more life circumstances you’ve felt lost and disconnected from your full self. You may have hidden or erased parts of yourself to fit in, to get by, to survive. Maybe you’re unpacking and unlearning the impacts of shame and systems of oppression in your life. Most of all: you’re wanting to reconnect with yourself, accept yourself, begin healing and living a more balanced, authentic life. It is my goal to form a brave space for you to explore your truest self, goals, and desires.

As a therapist, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We are all different and have different needs, and I want to honor and celebrate those differences. Through models such as person-centered, narrative, and feminist theories, I use an eclectic and collaborative approach to find what works for you! This space is meant for you to feel comfortable to share, unpack the hard stuff, celebrate the good stuff, laugh, cry, rant, emote, and whatever else you may need. I hope to empower and affirm you and create a space that promotes self-exploration and facilitates healing and growth.

Outside of this space, I enjoy music in many forms whether listening to alternative R&B, singing (on & off-key), or teaching myself to play the guitar. I am an avid TV watcher and Insecure and Sex and the City are just a few of my all-time favorites. I also adore the beach and soaking up the sun anytime I can (yes I am a Leo).

You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.
