My Approach & Philosophy

Have you ever felt like an outsider in spaces where you thought you would belong?

As a Black, queer, neurodivergent, first-generation immigrant woman, I know what it feels like to fight to survive in a society that rejects your existence. Living life at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities is exhausting, especially when you are unable to receive the care you need to manage the mental health issues that inevitably arise from a lifetime of navigating oppression. Growing up, I struggled to balance the demands of life and constantly felt like there was no space where my full self was accepted. Despite my struggles, I was unable to receive the care I needed until adulthood, when I found a therapist who acknowledged the unique challenges I faced as a multiply marginalized person. My experience highlights the struggles that many people with multiple marginalized identities face. We are often forced to develop our own strategies to simply survive life, never receiving the accommodations, acceptance, and support necessary to thrive.

As a therapist, I am committed to creating an inclusive therapeutic space that is affirming of all identities, cultures, and backgrounds and acknowledges the constraints we face as inhabitants of an oppressive system.

My goal is to help you navigate life and find healing within the context of your identities and the inequities you may face. I hope to help you unlearn messages you have internalized throughout your life that may have made you feel unworthy, powerless, rejected, or hopeless. My therapeutic approach is rooted in Narrative, Person-Centered, and Feminist theory with a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens. I believe that rebuilding a new understanding of yourself that embraces, rather than rejects, your identities and differences can help you feel empowered and balanced.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy all things creative! I am currently writing a novel and enjoy music, makeup, fashion, and cooking. When I’m not partaking in a creative pursuit, you can find me reading or swimming. I also love spending time with my girlfriend, mom, and cat.

You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.
